HeyGears is set to unveil the G1X, a compact 3D printer capable of creating full-color models directly from your desktop. This innovative machine eliminates the need for manual painting or finishing, allowing users to experiment with their designs more freely.
Targeted at hobbyists and small print shops, the G1X utilizes an Epson printhead with 3,200 nozzles and eight ink channels to reproduce over 10 million colors at impressive resolutions up to 1,440 x 2,400 DPI. It is reportedly the first desktop printer that delivers these capabilities, though larger industrial-grade options exist.
The printer boasts a print accuracy of 10-20 microns, finer than a human hair, and employs a system that jets color ink and cures it with UV light layer by layer. The supports for the prints dissolve in water, streamlining the post-processing phase and minimizing the skill required for finishing.
Apart from 3D prints, the G1X can also create textured prints capable of showcasing depths of up to 5mm, suitable for mimicking various materials. Additionally, it handles 2D UV printing on a wide variety of substrates, ranging from wood to metal and glass, making it versatile for custom products like phone cases and coasters.
The G1X offers a spacious build volume with dimensions of 330 x 130 x 420 mm, and can achieve object heights of up to 150 mm. With user-friendly software for design and management, the printer also features built-in air filtration to minimize odors during operation.
HeyGears is currently running a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, offering the G1 starter pack for $1,999 and the full-featured G1X for $3,599—both at discounted rates compared to their MSRP. If successful, shipments are expected to start in December 2026.
