How PolyJet works
Print heads jet microscopic droplets of liquid photopolymer onto the build tray and cure them instantly with UV light. By jetting several materials at once, PolyJet can blend rigid and rubber-like resins and full colour within a single part, building extremely fine layers for smooth surfaces.
Different resins can be combined voxel by voxel, so a single print can include rigid housings, soft-touch grips, clear lenses, and full-colour graphics. This makes PolyJet unmatched for realistic, multi-material concept models.
What PolyJet is best for
- Realistic, full-colour concept models
- Multi-material and overmoulded prototypes
- Soft-touch grips and seals on rigid parts
- Clear and tinted transparent parts
- Anatomical and medical visualisation models
Strengths & trade-offs
Strengths
- Full colour and multi-material
- Very smooth surface finish
- Fine detail and thin layers
- Rigid + flexible in one print
Trade-offs
- Photopolymers degrade in UV/sun
- Not for load-bearing parts
- Higher cost for large parts
- Limited long-term durability
