Frequently asked

3D printing questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about technologies, materials, file requirements, accuracy, lead times, pricing, and our price-match guarantee.

Q1What 3D printing technologies do you offer?
We offer the three most widely used additive processes: FDM/FFF for sturdy, low-cost parts; SLA resin for fine detail and smooth surfaces; and SLS nylon for strong, isotropic functional parts that need no support structures. Specialty processes — MJF, metal DMLS, and full-colour PolyJet — are available through vetted partners on request.
Q2Which 3D printing material should I choose?
Match the material to the job: PLA or standard resin for visual prototypes, PETG or ABS/ASA for durable functional parts, Nylon (PA12) or carbon-fiber nylon for engineering loads, TPU for flexible parts, and tough or castable resins for fine detail. Use the materials library to filter by strength, heat resistance, flexibility, or biocompatibility.
Q3What file formats and sizes do you accept?
We accept STL, STEP/STP, OBJ, 3MF, and IGES files, and there is no file-size limit — upload models of any size. STEP is preferred for production parts because it preserves exact geometry and units.
Q4How accurate are your 3D printed parts?
Typical dimensional tolerance is ±0.2 mm for FDM, ±0.1 mm for SLA resin, and ±0.3 mm for SLS nylon. Tighter tolerances are achievable with post-machining on request, and every order is dimensionally inspected before it ships.
Q5What is the typical turnaround time?
Standard lead time is 3 to 5 business days after design confirmation. Rush prints ship in as little as 24 hours, and small-batch production runs are quoted with a firm delivery date.
Q6Can you handle small-batch production runs?
Yes. Beyond one-off prototypes we run repeatable small-batch production from tens to several thousand units, with per-part inspection, consistent material lots, and volume pricing.
Q7How much does 3D printing cost?
Cost depends on part volume, material, technology, and finish. Most prototypes fall between $15 and $120 per part; you get an exact instant quote the moment you upload your model — with no minimum order.
Q8Do you offer a price-match guarantee?
Yes. We will beat any formal written quote from a verified, legitimate 3D printing business for a comparable part — same technology, material, finish, tolerance, and lead time. See our Price-Match Guarantee terms for full details.
Q9Is there a file-size limit?
No. There is no cap on upload size — send models of any size. For very large multi-body assemblies, STEP files keep uploads efficient while preserving exact geometry.
Q10What is the largest part you can print?
Single-piece build volumes reach roughly 500 × 500 × 500 mm in FDM, 350 × 350 × 600 mm in SLS, and 250 × 250 × 300 mm in metal. Larger parts are split and bonded or mechanically joined — send your model and we'll advise the best approach.
Q11Can you print flame-retardant (UL 94 V0) parts?
Yes. We offer UL 94 V0-rated flame-retardant materials — including FR PETG, PC-FR, FR nylon, and PEI/ULTEM — for electrical enclosures, electronics housings, and transit or aerospace parts. Ask for a V0 option when you upload.
Q12Do you offer finishing and post-processing?
Yes. Options include support removal and deburring, bead-blasting, sanding, priming and painting, vapour-smoothing for sealed FDM parts, and dyeing for SLS and MJF nylon. Note the finish you need when you place your order.
Q13Will you sign an NDA and protect my IP?
Absolutely. Your files and designs are kept confidential and NDA coverage is standard on every project. We never share or reuse your models.
Q14Do you offer design or DFM support?
Yes. An engineer reviews every order for printability — wall thickness, small features, trapped volumes, and tolerances — and recommends the best process and material. Deeper design and DFM assistance is available on request.
Q15How should I prepare my file for the best result?
Export at the correct scale and units (mm preferred), make sure the mesh is watertight (no holes or flipped faces), use STEP for production parts, and send one file per unique part.
Q16Where do you ship and how much is shipping?
We ship across Canada with tracking; shipping is calculated at checkout by destination and order size. Rush options are available when you need parts fast.
