Lyten, a company specializing in supermaterials, and Modovolo, a leader in US-made 3D printing technologies, have announced their collaboration to enhance global manufacturing through Modovolo’s BFP 3D printing platform. This modular system is designed to produce high-performance parts for the aviation, automotive, and industrial sectors.
The partnership highlights Lyten’s 3D Graphene™ enhanced filament, PA1205, which boasts superior properties compared to traditional materials, surpassing carbon fiber alternatives in various strength metrics and impact resistance. This filament allows faster print speeds and better temperature performance, thereby enabling the creation of aircraft-quality components directly on-site.
Modovolo has developed the BFP platform to fulfill the increasing need for locally sourced and manufactured parts. Its design supports deployment in remote conditions and provides a solution to significant supply chain challenges faced within the aerospace and defense industries. Justin Call, Modovolo’s CEO, emphasized the necessity of such technology, citing the challenges in finding adequate printing materials for producing aerospace-grade components.
