A 3D printer can be an exciting gift for a kid or teen, but the price and learning curve may give parents pause. The Elegoo Centauri series aims to make getting started easier, with an enclosed design that keeps moving parts inside and automated calibration and leveling to reduce the setup work.
In a review of the Centauri Carbon, Mashable reviewer Adam Doud described it as an “idiot-friendly” printer that was easy to understand. The newer Elegoo Centauri 2 Combo adds features designed to simplify printing further: its CANVAS system handles four-color printing without manual filament swaps, while the ElegooSlicer app lets users queue projects and monitor prints from a phone. It can also print at speeds of up to 500 mm/s.
As of Oct. 14, the Centauri 2 Combo is $328.99 on Amazon, reduced from $461.99—a saving of $133, or about 29%.
