Cold spray additive manufacturing company SPEE3D will debut its new Expeditionary Manufacturing Unit (EMU) at this week’s Land Forces expo, held from Wednesday to Friday at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The EMU represents a complete mobile additive manufacturing solution, featuring an XSPEE3D expeditionary printer along with post-processing and testing units, all housed within two 20-foot shipping containers.
In a statement released on Monday, Byron Kennedy, CEO of SPEE3D, expressed excitement about showcasing the unit: “Land Forces is the premier exposition for defence in Australia, and we are excited to display our Expeditionary Manufacturing Unit (EMU) for the first time at the event.”
The ruggedized XSPEE3D printer, which is central to the EMU, was originally launched at the 2022 Land Forces expo in Brisbane. This technology offers on-site manufacturing capabilities designed for challenging environments, making it suitable for defence applications.
In addition to the unveiling of the EMU, SPEE3D announced that its collaboration with Defence will continue, with the aim to support Ukraine’s battlefield operations. Defence has procured three additional SPEE3Dcell units to enhance the three WarpSPEE3D printers bought previously. These units will help Ukrainian troops in maintaining and fixing military machinery and salvaging equipment in combat zones.
The utilization of SPEE3D’s advanced technology in defense operations underlines the company’s commitment to deliver quick, dependable, and robust manufacturing solutions in critical circumstances.
