QIDI has introduced the latest model in its Plus series: the QIDI Plus4, which is a consumer-grade, large-format 3D printer featuring an advanced second-generation active chamber heating system. This new version offers improved functionalities that are particularly suited for those who require precision and simplicity in their printing operations.
The QIDI Plus4 advances upon the achievements of its predecessor, the Plus3, by incorporating considerable enhancements. It showcases a maximum print temperature of 370°C and an expanded build volume of 305 x 305 x 280 mm, enabling the use of a broader array of high-performance filaments. These enhancements position it as an excellent tool for users interested in crafting detailed, exact models.
A prominent upgrade in the QIDI Plus4 is its sophisticated active chamber heating system, previously acclaimed in its earlier version. This revamped second-generation heating system now offers 400W of power, facilitating a rapid warming of the chamber to 65°C in only 8 minutes. An updated air flow configuration together with a robust turbo fan promotes a uniform heat distribution throughout the chamber. The benefits include improved print precision particularly with high-temperature materials like PC, ABS, and PA. Moreover, the refined system aids in preventing model distortion and boosts layer bonding, increasing the printer’s reliability for elaborate tasks.
The QIDI Plus4 boasts an independent dual Z-axis motor configuration enhanced by thicker 10mm screws and optical axes, previously 8mm, along with a hotbed now 6mm thick, up from 3mm. These upgrades ensure superior Z-axis stability, crucial for the smooth and accurate movement of the printer. Complemented by its CoreXY structure, the device effortlessly produces models with outstanding surface quality that rivals professional standards.
Central to the functionality of the QIDI Plus4 is its powerful hot end, which reaches temperatures up to 370°C, backed by 80W of heating capacity. This robust setup allows the printer to process industrial-grade filaments like PPS-CF without hassle. The integrated bimetallic nozzle is designed to work with a variety of filament types, from basic ABS and PLA to the more robust fiber-reinforced filaments like ABS-GF, PA-CF, and PET-CF, eliminating the need to change nozzles and broadening the printer’s versatility.
This model of printer comes with major updates to its operating system and slicing software, enhancing overall performance. It runs on the newest V0.12.0 Klipper system, tailored for easy use by beginners, and features the advanced QIDI Studio slicing software which boosts efficiency in print preparation. A notable feature is its self-cleaning nozzle system that facilitates waste management and automatic filament cutting, adding to its convenience and functionality.
Key to optimal 3D printing results is the initial layer’s quality, and the QIDI Plus4 addresses this with its dual-sensor auto-leveling feature. It employs a proximity probe alongside four piezoelectric sensors beneath the hotbed to adjust for any Z-axis discrepancies, ensuring the bed is perfectly level and the first layer is impeccable every time.
