K3D Announced as First Customer for Additive Industries’ Innovative MetalFab 300 Flex

On September 6, 2024, it was revealed that K3D, a company from the Netherlands specializing in metal additive manufacturing, is the first customer for the new MetalFab 300 Flex machine by Additive Industries. K3D, located in Bergeijk, has placed an order for two units of this advanced machine, which was showcased at the RAPID+TCT event in Los Angeles, USA.

Mark Massey, the CEO of Additive Industries, shared his excitement about the partnership with K3D on this new venture. “We are thrilled to have K3D onboard as the first client for the MetalFab 300 Flex. Their commitment to acquiring our newest machine underscores their trust in our technology and their progressive strategy for business growth. The MetalFab 300 Flex’s versatility and scalability are key to aiding K3D in escalating their production capacity while effectively managing financial risk,” Massey commented.

Since its initial collaboration with Additive Industries in 2016, K3D has been a faithful partner. With an increasing focus on industries like aerospace, automotive, tooling, energy, and defense, K3D sees an urgent need to boost its manufacturing capabilities. By investing in the MetalFab 300 Flex, K3D intends to cater to the growing needs for specialized applications using stainless steel (316L) and titanium (Ti-6Al-4V).

The MetalFab 300 Flex stands out as the only metal additive manufacturing machine featuring a flexible build area, making it highly adaptable and scalable for industrial usage. Luuk Wissink, the CEO of K3D, expressed immense satisfaction with their decision to be the inaugural customer for this innovative machine. “We are incredibly happy to be the first adopters of the MetalFab 300 Flex. The novel business model proposed by Additive Industries allows us to commit our resources incrementally, significantly mitigating our financial, commercial, and operational risks. As our company evolves, the capacity to augment our capabilities and efficiently manage our operational scale is essential. The MetalFab 300 Flex aptly meets these necessities,” Wissink remarked.

This acquisition will empower K3D to sustain its developmental trajectory and enhance its industrial influence across diverse sectors.
