One of the frontrunners in this effort is Lyten, a company well-known for its supermaterial applications and expertise in 3D graphene. They recently announced the launch of Lyten Motorsport, aimed at integrating advanced material science into the production of motorsport components.

Lyten’s 3D graphene, a versatile carbon-based material, can be customized to meet the high performance demands of racing applications. This flexibility allows for adjustments that enhance parts, making them stronger and lighter—a critical factor in improving vehicle speed and safety.

At the heart of Lyten’s innovation is a 3D platform for developing next-generation lithium-sulfur batteries that outperform traditional models. This technology not only aims to reduce the dependency on mined materials like nickel and cobalt but also supports the creation of components that are lightweight and durable, addressing the extreme performance needs of motorsport. Dan Cook, Lyten’s Co-Founder and CEO, highlighted the transformative potential of these next-gen materials, drawing parallels to the revolutionary impact of carbon fiber on the industry.

Lyten is actively conducting research in California alongside the establishment of a dedicated production center in Indianapolis. The Lyten Motorsports branch is already in the process of designing 3D parts with its own materials, focusing on enhancing carbon fiber components and substituting certain metal pieces with lighter composites. This initiative targets various competitions within the U.S. and internationally. Scott Jasek, CEO of INDYCAR Experience, emphasized the demand for new materials innovation in motorsports, stating that Lyten’s 3D Graphene platform could fulfill that need.
