Grand Ledge resident Josh Wyatt has transformed his 3D printing hobby into a successful business, Bitz-n-printz, creating miniature replicas of local landmarks. His notable creations include the iconic Grand Ledge water tower, Webster the cat from the Grand Ledge Library, and the "Big Penny" bridge in Lansing.<\/p>\n
Wyatt, who has been 3D printing for around a decade, decided to turn his passion into a business to help relieve financial pressure while being a stay-at-home dad. \u201cI love this town, walking around, having stuff at Ledge Craft Lane has been fun,\u201d Wyatt expressed. The idea to create the water tower came from conversations with Stephanie Lapp, the president of Ledge Craft Lane, who encouraged him to make the landmark.<\/p>\n
The 3D printed models are sold at Ledge Craft Lane and online, and they have gained popularity among locals. Lapp noted that the water tower models have been particularly well received, describing them as a fun item for the next generation.<\/p>\n
As Wyatt’s skills have grown, he has expanded his offerings to include even more recognizable structures, such as the Cupola from Eastern High School and the Book of Life from Our Savior Lutheran Church and School. His passion for documenting local architecture led to a memorable moment when he captured a photo of his miniature version of the Big Penny bridge while witnessing a real truck accident involving the bridge.<\/p>\n
