Your typical 3D printer operates by extruding hot plastic through a nozzle that’s controlled by a precise robotic mechanism. However, there’s nothing to stop someone from taking the control into their own hands, as demonstrated by 3D Sanago<\/a> in their latest project\u2014a charming cleaning robot designed specifically to pick up socks.<\/p>\n

The video begins with an introduction to the construction process. "First, we create the base that will become the robot vacuum’s body," says 3D Sanago. With impressive speed and precision, they craft a 15 x 15 cm square, almost mimicking a 3D printer’s movements. While the task can be monotonous and exhausting, the results speak for themselves. Using post-processing techniques, like applying heat from an iron, 3D Sanago is able to enhance the aesthetic of the plastic components, making the effort worthwhile.<\/p>\n

The robot is engineered with four gear motors powering four omniwheels, allowing it to maneuver in any direction easily. It’s controlled by an Arduino Uno, linked with a multi-channel motor driver board. A servo-controlled arm enables the robot to interact with small objects. Despite being dubbed a \u201crobot vacuum,\u201d it functions more as a general "cleaning robot" without vacuuming capabilities, primarily designed for the task of sock collection.<\/p>\n
