Divergent Technologies Inc. has recently expanded its operations by launching a new factory in Long Beach, where it will introduce its advanced industrial metal 3D printer, the Monolith One. This state-of-the-art printer, which measures over eight meters tall and six meters wide, is designed for high-throughput operations and is capable of delivering up to 24kW of laser power through 12 2kW lasers. Its build volume of 700x700x835 mm allows it to work with various standard alloys including aluminum, nickel, steel, and titanium, making it a versatile tool for production.<\/p>\n
The Monolith One is a key part of Divergent\u2019s goal to produce tens of thousands of munition airframes annually, with the new factory increasing production capabilities by eight times for its defense and commercial clients. Six Monolith One printers are already operational at the company\u2019s headquarters in Torrance, California, while 64 additional units will be initialized at the Long Beach site over the next two years.<\/p>\n
According to Lukas Czinger, the company’s CEO, the Monolith One is specifically engineered for scaled production of critical hardware, incorporating years of operational insights. The factory\u2019s operation not only aims to fulfill impressive production goals but also supports local economies by creating approximately 1,000 direct jobs and additional indirect employment through various sectors.<\/p>\n
The Monolith One is not available for commercial use, but serves as a vital component of Divergent\u2019s manufacturing platform, designed to streamline the production of intricate metal structures necessary for advanced aerospace and defense applications. By integrating the Monolith One into this platform, Divergent is positioned to significantly enhance quality control and efficiency in manufacturing.<\/p>\n
Divergent Technologies has been part of Southern California’s advanced technology ecosystem since its inception in 2014, and with the expansion, their footprint now exceeds 550,000 square feet.
