Introducing Elegoo’s Latest 3D Printer: The Centauri with an Integrated Color System

Elegoo has announced the release of its new Centauri Carbon 2 Combo 3D printer, set for availability on January 26, 2026. Recognized for its budget-friendliness, Elegoo has earned accolades with earlier models like the Centauri Carbon and the Mars series of 3D printers.

The Centauri Carbon 2 introduces a significant innovation: a filament changer capable of handling up to four different colors or materials in a single print job. This feature is accompanied by an RFID auto-recognition system that can identify filament type and set the optimal printing parameters.

James Bricknell, CNET’s managing editor and 3D printing expert, pointed out that despite being the first model to incorporate a color system, the printer’s features make it a valuable addition for users. “Testing is underway, and initial impressions are promising,” he shared.

Additionally, the printer boasts a hardened steel nozzle that withstands higher temperatures of up to 350 degrees Celsius, an upgrade from the previous model’s 320 degrees. This enhancement enables compatibility with a wider range of high-performance filaments.

Improvements to the Centauri Carbon 2 also include advanced temperature control mechanisms that automatically adjust chamber airflow based on the type of filament being used, which optimizes printing conditions and minimizes manual adjustments.

Further specifications include a new zone-leveling mode with quicker calibration, reduced operating noise at 45 decibels, and a user-friendly 5-inch capacitive touchscreen supportive of multiple languages.

While the official pricing is yet to be disclosed, the previous model retailed for approximately $300. Enthusiasts are hopeful for a similar price point in the Centauri Carbon 2’s release.
