Toyoda Gosei Backs DigitalArchi: A Breakthrough Investment in 3D Printer Formwork Technology

Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd., a Japanese company, has recently announced its investment in DigitalArchi Co., Ltd., a startup focused on manufacturing and selling formworks made from plastic through 3D printing technology. This move aims to address certain challenges in the construction industry, such as labor shortages, by streamlining the form fabrication process.

Traditionally, construction workers create formworks for concrete using wood, a method that can be time-consuming and labor-intensive. DigitalArchi’s innovative approach uses recycled plastic to produce formworks, not only enhancing efficiency on construction sites but also contributing towards sustainability goals through resource recycling.

Toyoda Gosei, known for its commitment to reducing environmental impact through the recycling of plastic automotive parts, sees this collaboration as an opportunity to repurpose currently non-recyclable plastics, typically used in painted or plated automotive components, into construction materials.

This investment was made in December 2024, facilitated by Toyoda Gosei’s Corporate Venture Capital Department.
